Kindle Unlimited

I’m sure, if you follow independently published authors, you’ve probably heard this before.

I won’t go into great detail on how I’m not convinced this is the best way to hand down royalties to authors. It would work if everyone was online all the time, but not everyone is, so pages get missed, etc…

Off my soapbox…

I’m thinking of pulling all of my novels from Kindle Unlimited. Yes, I make some money, and that’s great, but if the pages read are not accurately calculated then it does little good for the author.

What are your thoughts on KU? Do you prefer picking up an unknown author via KU, or do you like to download the sample and judge the book that way? Would you be less inclined to purchase a book if it is not also available on KU?

Thanks for your help.

Unusual Request

This is one unusual request, at least from me.

At first I thought, what the heck, no need to ask because people will do it. What I didn’t take into account was the fact that most readers may not even be aware of this.

Amazon changed their ratings’ system. That means, someone like me, who has okay sales but no reviews, gets tossed into the black abyss of Amazon’s site. Their system now goes by how many 5 stars, 4…3…2…1…0, and then there’s some calculations that go on, yada yada, and the books with the greater number of 5 star ratings get front and center, first page, etc. 4 star ratings get second page recognition, and so on…

Here is my request:

If you have two minutes to go into your account, after reading my book, any of my books you’ve read, and leave a one or two sentence description with your star rating, that would go a long way to helping me get a little more recognition.

The sentence can be as simple as: “This was a great book.” Or as lengthy as a play-by-play of the novel. Though, I would ask that you not give a complete play-by-play. More is less, less is more. 😉

I would truly appreciate the time taken by you to leave a tiny review. Besides, I’d love to know what others think of Annika and her world.

Thanks so much for indulging me. Have a great day!

Hello! I wanted to give you an update on what to expect from now until end of year 2015.

First, I plan on releasing Annika and Kat’s second books. Tentative plan is October and November, respectively.

Now, if I can hold to that, this would be a great plan. 🙂

Second, I’m going to try and keep my FB page updated.

Again, if I can hold to this, that would be fricken wonderful.

Third, I plan on finishing the third book in Annika’s world.

That is a big one because this freakin’ third book hates me. I’ve started it over and over and over…etc…again, and it still doesn’t like me. Don’t get me wrong, the story line is great, each and every time I write over a hundred pages, it’s wonderful. Then I have to toss it because the voice doesn’t fit Annika or the plot took a turn that doesn’t fit her world, etc.

Fourth, regroup and refocus on writing.

With the third book fighting me so much, I’ve just about given up on Annika’s world. I’m actually tired of writing about her. She’s great. Love her to pieces, but the fighting is worse than just writing crap, or having writer’s block, or whatever.

I think I’ve put her in a box, and neither of us like boxes, so that means we battle. I don’t think some things should be in there, as this third book deals with a lot of sensitive subjects, and could potentially turn off readers or get me cut from Amazon. However, the story needs to be told properly, and in order to do that, I have to write freely. And…what for it…I can’t. Well, I can, and I have, but those are trashed pages.

Fifth, open the box I put Annika in.

Now that I’ve given a small glimmer of what my plans are, and stepped off my soapbox…

Thanks for reading.
